Re-Elected Rep. Steve Israel's Priority One Isn't the Economy?

On November 2, 2010 Long Islanders of New York's 2nd Congressional District re-elected Democrat Steve Israel for his sixth term in Congress. The issues facing the country during this election cycle included high unemployment, record federal deficits in the trillions of dollars, a continued terrorist threat, and foreclosures at an all time high. Which of these problems did Steve Israel say was his number one priority for his next term? Well, here he is in his own words:

When asked what his first priority was on election night, Steve Israel replied "Winning back the majority."

In SIW's opinion, this was not exactly what a newly elected Congressman who was just re-elected by many of his constituents who are mired in, and suffering from, the effects of  terrible economy.

However, SIW does appreciate the candor of career politician Steve Israel in revealing what was first on his mind after re-election.
